How to manage widgets in WP 2.5. How to use widgets in WP 2.5. So many users can’t edit or delete or create widgets in WP 2.5. Here you will find a step by step tutorial with a lot of screenshots.

Important information: You can’t manage your widgets with IE6 and there is no patch all over the world

My example is for three widget ready column theme, but my examples work also in any other widget ready theme.

Widget XYZ for column 1 in WP 2.5

Create a new widget

At right side you will find “Current Widgets“, choose from the drop down menu and click “Show”. In my example it is “column1″ this is only a term in my theme. Maybe in your theme it is named “Sidebar Left” or something else.

At left side you will find a drop down with different ways to filter your available widgets. After this you have to click” Show”.

Create a new widget

At left side click an Pages. After the *click* you will find the “Pages Widget” at right side to edit it.

Edit a widget

Choose a title and something else or click “Remove” – you have to click “Save Changes”.

Now you would like to have widgets in column2.

1st step: Choose column2 from the drop down. Click: “Show”.

2nd step: Choose “Unused widgets” from the drop down at left side. Click: “Show”.

Edit widget catgories

If you would like to edit your category widget, there you will find two buttons: “Change and Remove”. After your edits you have to click one of them.

I don’t know why some widgets have to buttons “Change and Remove”. I only know “edit” works only with click one of them

To see how it looks like in your frontend, you have to click: “Save Changes“.

Each (or every) click add a new text widget. After a click you will find this text widgets at right side.

Attention: I don’t know why but sometimes and under unknown circumstances it can be that all your text in this text widget will be delete. So copy and paste every time you click *edit*. And click *change* often as you can – .

With drag &drop you can rearrange your widgets.

Thats it. I know it is a very strange way to use widgets in your sidebar or columns. But I hope this step by step tutorial would help you.
